Solving a Company's Issue with an Unreliable Vibratory Conveyor
We were contacted by a company that had bought a vibratory conveyor from a supplier that was no longer trading. This left the company without any support or contact to call when they had issues. We inspected the conveyor when we arrived on site and found it sporadically losing power and cutting out.
The team began a thorough assessment and found significant water damage to the control card inside the panel. After discussing this with management, it was found that the current control panel’s design requires the operators to open it to access the speed settings. Due to this, there have been numerous occasions when the operators have washed down the conveyor with the panel still open, which can cause severe damage to the electrical system.
We replaced the existing controls with a VCSP HMI panel to solve this issue. This new panel allows the operators access to the speed controls on the touch screen, removing any requirements to open the panel. This protects the electrical components from any exposure to water or cleaning chemicals whilst providing these additional benefits,
- Reduced risk of accidental damage to the controls
- Improved hygiene – Sealed HMI panel prevents exposure to water damage and
- User-Friendly Interface – Operators can make speed adjustments and other settings through the touchscreen without needing to access the internal components.)
- Advanced error handling – The system logs faults providing data to management
VCSPs provided solutions to resolve the immediate issue while protecting against similar future problems. To maintain these improvements, VCSP also proposed a yearly service plan that involves scheduled inspections and maintenance. The benefits of this service plan include:
- Predictable maintenance schedule: Routine checks could help detect potential problems before they escalate.
- Cost savings: The service plan featured discounted prices on spare
- Extended equipment lifespan: Regular maintenance is known to enhance conveyor systems’ longevity significantly.
