Case Study: Expanding Production with VCSP Vibratory Conveyor System
Client Background
A leading vegetable processor in the UK has expanded its production capacity by incorporating VCSP’s advanced vibratory conveyor systems. The company processes thousands of metric tons of locally sourced, fresh vegetables annually, supplying high-quality ingredients to manufacturers of ready meals, snacks, and frozen vegetable products. The company has also developed an additional production line to wash, sort, and dry delicate vegetables, such as green beans, carrots, and leafy greens.
The fragile nature of the vegetables needed equipment that could handle delicate items carefully while providing options to manage different vegetables with changeable flow behaviours and moisture content. Fast changeover capabilities and adaptability were core requirements in selecting the equipment.
VCSP was selected due to its experience in customising vibratory conveyors to meet high hygiene standards and efficient food processing requirements. We conducted detailed product assessments and designed conveyor layouts that fit perfectly into the processor’s existing facility.
VCSP vibratory conveyors utilise a dynamic vibration mechanism that gently and precisely moves products. Operating with adjustable vibration frequency and amplitude, the conveyors enable operators to optimise flow for different vegetable types and processing steps, including washing, grading, and drying.
The new line processes up to twelve metric tons per hour and comprises conveyors for washing and dewatering, grading with specialised screens, and drying to remove moisture uniformly before packaging. Electromagnetic drives allow straightforward speed adjustments from the control panel, ensuring a consistent product flow and improved line efficiency.
The integrated system buffers the process between batch operations upstream and continuous drying downstream, ensuring steady feed rates essential for maintaining throughput and product quality.
VCSP conveyors are designed to withstand harsh, wet, and cold conditions commonly encountered in vegetable processing. They have oil-free magnetic drive systems, which do not use belts and bearings, thus minimising maintenance and work downtime. These conveyors feature IP65-rated enclosures that are resistant to dust and moisture, ensuring 24/7 operation.
The handling of the wet and acidic vegetables requires durability and hygiene, which the VCSP conveyors cater to through their robust design and their hygienic construction.
Using customised vibratory conveyor systems with VCSP and professional collaborative effort, the vegetable processor could increase their production process while retaining the quality of their products and reliability in their operations.
